Inhouse UX and Explainable AI
We are looking forward to exciting discussions with in-house UX designers at the ‘Future of Industrial Usability’ event in Würzburg (22 - 23 October 2024). The event is an excellent opportunity to discuss the current challenges and opportunities in the usability and user experience of industrial products and services with experts. We are looking forward to presenting our expertise and methods developed specifically for this target group.
We will also be giving a presentation on Explainable AI (XAI) at the event. We will also be presenting our XAI study at our stand, in which we used a click dummy to collect qualitative feedback from AI and UX experts in order to develop the first XAI design patterns.
Inhouse UX in industrial companies
While we used to mainly support companies that had little to no UX/UI design expertise, we are increasingly realising that industrial companies now have in-house UX designers and need targeted support. Do you work as a user experience specialist in an industrial company? Take the opportunity to visit us at the ‘Future of Industrial Usability’ and find out how we can help you take the user experience of your products and services to the next level - we are your competent contact and coach when it comes to UX.
We are happy to advise you on the following topics:
UX scoping
We work with you to determine the current UX maturity level of your company. In our UX scoping workshop, we specifically analyse where your strengths lie and in which areas targeted training and workshops can significantly improve your UX skills.
Further training
We can provide you and your team with customised support in building up additional expertise in UI design or in an industry context. Our UX Navigator programme offers you the opportunity to deepen your UX skills based on specific practical projects. We adapt the training content flexibly to your needs and thus guarantee maximum learning success and added value for your company.
Tool selection
We support you in identifying the optimal implementation tool for your needs so that your UX projects can be implemented efficiently and purposefully.
Expert feedback
Receive concrete and well-founded feedback on existing designs and solutions. Our team will help you to seamlessly integrate aesthetic and usability requirements into your product requirements.
Value of UX
We help you to present your work transparently and convincingly to management so that the importance of UX and your competences are clearly communicated. We support you in making the value of UX in your company clear with sound arguments.
We would be happy to introduce you to our Academy formats, which range from scoping to get to know your needs to comprehensive UX coaching and mentoring.
Added value and opportunities through Explainable AI
Presentation by Tom Cadera and David Sauer
Tue 22 Oct 14:50 - 15:20, Workshop Room 2
With the AI Act, it is becoming increasingly mandatory for companies in the EU to make the functioning and decision criteria of their AI systems transparent and comprehensible. XAI plays a crucial role in promoting transparency and trust in these systems - especially in regulated markets and safety-critical applications.
Explainable AI (XAI) aims to open up the previously opaque black box systems and make them understandable. UX design can make a significant contribution here. The presentation emphasises the importance of XAI and shows how companies can design AI use cases to be human-centric right from the start. This creates the basis for the next generation of UX solutions that set new standards through the integration of XAI.
Benefits and target group
- Participants of the presentation will gain insights into the current challenges and opportunities of XAI and gain ideas on how to effectively integrate this technology into their own processes.
- The presentation is aimed in particular at professionals from the fields of AI, UX and process optimisation who are interested in making their systems more transparent and comprehensible.
- Finally, the presentation will address the question of where the limits of XAI lie and how we can deal with them.
Our study
We will be presenting our XAI study in the lecture and at our trade fair stand. Using a click dummy, we collected qualitative feedback from AI and UX experts and derived the first XAI design patterns. The solutions were tested and evaluated in practice using a prototype. The study provided valuable insights into how XAI can be implemented in practice to make AI systems transparent and understandable.
