Comprehensive user experience for tabletop dosing device and touch HMI.

The smart dosing system mini-dis from bdtronic enables the dosing of very small quantities in the microliter range. We provided the mini-dis control unit with a comprehensive user experience design from a single source, from HMI to industrial design. We were able to go into great detail, implementing every screen, every icon, every single operating sequence. This depth of detail and comprehensive support made it possible to fully meet the high operating demands of the users. The market success of the mini-dis confirms this.

Strategy

We developed an elegant and modern look for the innovative tabletop dosing device. With it, we support the strategic marketing goals of bdtronic in hardware and software. A user-friendly expandability, from one to two dosing units, played a major role. For the 7 inch display we realized a modern design and an intuitive operability on smallest surface.

Modularity

The customer can configure a product at the time of purchase. The necessary modularity as a core value is reflected in the UX design concept. A modular recipe configurator and modular widgets on the home page make both initial setup and operation simple and intuitive.

Dashboard

The device can be monitored via dashboard view. Further context information and settings can be opened directly via tap from the respective widget.

Graphical live feedback

Limit values, e.g. of motors, are set via the corresponding widget. Graphical live feedback facilitates operation.

Recipes

Up to 1000 materials and process parameters can be stored on the device. The created recipes are modular. Recipes can be created step by step using the wizard.

Project work

For bdtronic, we took on both the industrial and UX design, from the usability and user experience concept to the visual design. We developed an overarching user experience from the handling of the device to the operation of the HMI. An integrated LED strip links both design disciplines.
